After discovering that Ron Hope is the one responsible for commanding the First Cavalry and their evil plans while destroying the farmers’ lives. You will have to travel back to Hopetown (Polvo, Valo system) and confront him with the revelation and the proof given by Paxton Hull before we “unlived” him. This is The Hammer Falls, the last mission of the Freestar Collective questline. He will initially deny the accusation, but as soon as you show him the evidence, he will attempt to convince you to get him off the hook, promising that the scheme will end, and even offering a substantial “reward” for your efforts. You can choose to keep his secret, keep it while accepting his “reward”, or kill him due to his attacking after refusing to step down.

  • Keep Ron Hope’s secret: you will accept Ron Hope’s promise to stop his scheme. This is the worst decision since it will yield the worst results.
  • Accept his bribe: if you are willing to bend your morals to get Hope off the hook, you might as well accept his “reward” of 20,000 credits. Your companions will hate this, so make sure to leave them waiting before approaching Hope.
  • Kill Ron Hope: if you are playing the good guy, then making Ron Hope pay is the only choice. Unfortunately, Ron will not go down without a fight, so you will have to end up killing him. Not being morally flexible will be seen positively by your companion.

After dealing with Ron Hope, you will have to travel back to Akila City and speak with Marshal Blake. Before you do that, be sure to talk to Birgit McDougall to do some role-playing. You will also learn about the successor to Hope: Elen Nwanko.

Next, go to Akila City. Marshal Blake will ask you about what went down during the first portion of The Hammer Falls quest. Depending on what was your previous choice, you will have to either lie to him or tell him what happened. Yes, that includes Ron Hope’s death.

Either way, you will receive the rank of Ranger as a reward. You will also get the Star Eagle Starship, the Ranger Spacesuit, the Helmet, the Power Pack, a Justifier Showtgun, a Ranger Duelwear, and, of course, a Freestar Ranger Badge. Good job, Ranger, you made the right call, I hope.
