In the Crafting tab you’ll see a lot of different things you can build. You’re going to see the Flame Altar in the Essentials category, and it will have two exclamation marks next to it if it’s your first altar of the game. When you’re clicked the Flame Altar, it will give you a short description about it marking where your home is. Press and hold Spacebar to craft the Flame Altar.
Walk up to the area you want to put your Flame Altar in and press the left-mouse button to place it. If you want to mess with the way its situated, you can always use these controls:
- R: Rotate 90 degrees
- R with middle mouse wheel: Rotate back and forth depending on where the wheel was scrolled
- X: Activate Snapping
When placed, the Altar will be a source of light for you, burning red with magic balls evaporating from it. This Altar cannot be used to cook, it is just a way to claim your own spot and build a home or base. This is the perfect spot for a bed, workbench, and your house.
