How to check Starfield (Bethesda) server status

Houston - do we have a problem?

Starfield is a very ambitious game with an abundance of content. By design, it is a single-player game, meaning there are zero online features. This means no toxic multiplayer, no competitive leaderboards, and no pesky server statuses. Unlike most other large games, Starfield doesn’t have a server. But this may not stop you from having server issues. Confused? Let me break it down. Here’s how to sort out any Starfield server issues.

Checking server issues for Starfield

If you’re concerned about the server status of Starfield, then there is a really handy portal for checking the server status of Bethesda games, but you’ll notice that Starfield isn’t listed. This isn’t a mistake. Starfield, having no online features, doesn’t have a server. So, server issues from Starfield’s end are simply impossible.

However, there was an episode upon release where Xbox players were having difficulty accessing the game. But this was because the Xbox servers were having issues, preventing players from playing. Even the Xbox store was acting up, preventing players from even accessing the game they’d bought. This has all been resolved, but server issues from Xbox, and all other consoles and platforms for that matter, can happen again.

Thankfully, all Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam servers and networks can be checked easily, meaning that if you are having issues, it’s easy to see if it’s from their end. If it is, then there’s nothing you can really do aside from wait. You can check their Twitter pages and other social media outlets to see if they have addressed the issue, and to see if other players are experiencing the same thing. If it turns out that the servers are fine, and you’re having server issues, then you will need to check your own network connection. It may be easiest to simply restart your router.

In the unlikely event that you are having server issues and all of the above isn’t working, then there is a much larger problem, as a server issue with Starfield is simply impossible. You’ll have to do some serious troubleshooting. It may be worth checking everything in an hour or so, as you may be earlier in detecting the problem than social media or websites.
