Are you an avid dice hoarder like me who can’t get enough of cool-looking dice sets for Dungeons & Dragons? Do you wish you could do the same in Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3? Well, in ways, you can do this! In this D&D video game, anytime you make a skill check, you’ll roll a digital purple dice. But did you know you can actually change how it looks? Let me explain how to change your dice skin in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to change the look of your dice
Depending on what version of Baldur’s Gate 3 you have, you may have some dice skins you don’t even know about! How you can change your dice skin in Baldur’s Gate 3 is right in the skill check screen.
When you’re about to make a skill check, and your dice pops up, look to the bottom left corner of your screen. There, you should see a button. Press that, and you’ll see what dice skins you own. But what are all the dice skin options?
- Scuffed Metal: Default dice skin.
- Behir Blue: Accessible to everyone, confirmed through Hotfix #3 details.
- Dragonflame Red: Digital Deluxe version (anyone who owned the game before release has the digital deluxe version for free).
- Collector’s Edition dice skin: Exclusive to anyone with the Collector’s Edition.
- PS5 exclusive skin: If you purchase the Deluxe Edition on PS5, you’ll receive an exclusive dice skin.
What if you didn’t get any special editions but still want some dice skins? Luckily, the modding community is on our side! As listed in our best mods for Baldur’s Gate 3, there are a few mods that will give you access to many new dice skins. The ‘Custom Dice‘ mod has 18 variations that take over the default dice skin, and ‘Dice Set Expansion‘ gives you 14 new stand-alone skins! This improves the true D&D experience by making you feel like you need to put a dice skin in dice jail when it keeps rolling natural ones.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on Steam.
