How to change new party setup background in Genshin Impact

A stylish flair.

Genshin Impact‘s 4.0 Fontaine update introduced some new quality-of-life changes to the game, including a new and polished party member select screen. While the old Genshin Impact‘s party setup screen looked a bit standard and lifeless, the game’s new party member screen takes a note from Honkai: Star Rail and adds a stylish flair. Each character sports a unique battle-ready pose, all set to a backdrop of a notable location in Genshin Impact. If you’re a fan of a certain background, you might be wondering how to keep the background as your standard one. Here’s how to change the new party setup background in Genshin Impact.

Initially, you’ll notice that you can’t actually manually change your party setup background screen in Genshin Impact. The background art you get matches the location you are in, with the unique backgrounds changing based on what region you’re in. For instance, if you are in the Sumeru desert, your background screen will resemble the hilly and sandy terrains. Unfortunately, normally, this means you won’t be able to set your favorite background permanently while switching between different parties.

Unfortunately, there is actually a way to force your game to remain on your preferred background. You can turn this setting off, however, and use a default screen with an astral-like theme. First, head into settings, and navigate to the “Other” tab. You’ll see an option at the bottom which reads: “The background of the Party Setup screen will change based on your current region.” By default, it should be set to “On,” which allows the game to switch between different background images. When you get the background you enjoy most, set this setting to “Off.”

With this, your background will remain consistent. That being said, the appeal of these new backgrounds is your characters encounter different regions, so we highly recommend leaving this setting “On.” There are other fun additions to the party member select screen, such as dynamic positioning for your characters as well as some unique character animations you can view when selecting different characters. Try experimenting with this new feature to see all of the fun new animations.
