First of all, a lightning storm itself is a dangerous weather condition that occurs alongside rain on any moon. While running back to your ship in the rain, you can get struck by lightning at any time, which will kill you instantly. There is no guarantee of your survival during a lightning storm, so it is the best choice to stay out of moons where it is raining.

However, if you still decide to explore a rainy planet, you will need to take some extra precautions regarding scraps that are metal. Metal attracts more lightning, making your death through a thunderstrike more certain. If you decide to run back to the ship, with a metal item in your hand, follow the explained procedure below. Although, there is no guarantee of survival in this process as well, but, what’s wrong with trying?

As soon as you get outside the facility with any metal item, you will get a warning for the lightning storm. After you get out of the facility with a metal item in your hand, drop it instantly on the ground. Now, these items will slowly charge and at some point, thunder will hit them. Make sure to stay away from the items, as thunder can do damage to your health if you stay dangerously close during the impact.

After the items are hit by a bolt of lightning, wait for a few seconds before picking them up. You will lose some health if you try to pick them up instantly, as they will remain charged for a brief period. Now, keep repeating the entire process like this until you reach your ship. Whenever you hear any static sound around you, drop the items to the ground and wait for lightning to hit them.
