Another Crab’s Treasure: How to beat the Diseased Lichenthrope

The Diseased Lichenthrope is a mini-boss you can come across in the Expired Grove. Well, it actually will pop out of nowhere and scare you, leading to a difficult combat encounter. You can beat the Diseased Lichenthrope in Another Crab’s Treasure by using a Soda Can shell and clearing its minions fast.

I had trouble staying alive against the Diseased Lichenthrope when it began to spit out little minions to attack me. If you leave alone them and focus on the boss they can make some surprise hits on you if you aren’t careful, so get rid of them as quickly as possible. For me, they died in two hits, so it didn’t take long.

I would also recommend the Soda Can shell since I love its Fizzle Shell Spell. This ability only uses up one Umami Charge and will both damage the enemy and increase its stagger bar. I kept coming back to this shell just because of how useful it was, even though it’s the first shell you discover.

This strange creature has a few annoying moves to look out for. One of them is the leaping attack. If you’re too far away, the boss will leap towards you to try and land on you. This is easy to dodge, but I’d try to make it land on any of its minions since it’s a good way to clear them out too.

Its Aggro attack will blink red to warn you that it’s coming, and you want to get as far away from it as possible. The Diseased Lichenthrope will open its mouth and suck in everything nearby in a cone.

If you’re stuck in that cone, you’ll get chewed up and spat out with a ton of your health depleted. I’d first dodge vertically away from its mouth, then I’d start to run away from it so I can get far enough to not get sucked in.

Otherwise, it can take some normal swipes at you like most other bosses. You also want to avoid landing in its polluted goop which can poison you if you’re stuck in it for a long period. After you defeat the Diseased Lichenthrope you’ll have a pet fish start to follow you around. No idea why, but I’m not complaining!
