While you’re traveling through The Sands Between you’re told to stay on the path or else you’ll run into something dangerous. Walking off the beaten path leads you to meet Pagurus, the Ravenous, but how can you beat this boss in Another Crab’s Treasure?
Another Crab’s Treasure: How to beat Pagurus, the Ravenous
Unlike any bosses you’ve seen so far, Pagurus can cause Kril to be Frightened which can leave him open to attacks and unable to fight back. This boss can also deal a significant amount of damage if you’re not careful, and is annoying to avoid when you’re just trying to explore. You can beat Pagurus, the Ravenous in Another Crab’s Treasure by shielding the Frighten using your shell.
About halfway through the Pagurus fight, it’ll make its first attempt at frightening you. The bar will rise, and if it fills 100% you’re Frightened. To avoid being Frightened I realized that anytime Kril dodged the bar would stop filling, and this also assumedly works when you’re blocking in your shell.
If you’re standing in the open, you’ll get Frightened, but dodging or blocking can stop you from getting this status effect. In the event that you do get Frightened, try running away from Pagurus, or even dodging still works, but your walking speed is slower as Kril cowers in his shell.
Pagurus maneuvers and best shell
Just like the Magista fight, I still think that the Soda Can is the best shell to use against most bosses. The Fizzle Shell Spell can damage the enemy’s health and increase its stagger bar. Staggering Pagurus led me to inflict a ton of damage and ended up allowing me to win.
Otherwise, you gotta look out for Pagurus’ repetitive movements. This creature will swipe across with its claws about three times, then dig into the ground while pushing upwards. There’s a lot of room to attack after it stops its sideswipes since you can easily avoid its knife and fork attack (it has plastic cutlery attached to its arms).
When Pagurus warns you with its blue attack, you cannot block it, so dodge backward out of the way before it pounces on you. Otherwise, its Aggro attack flashes red and it’s a simple swipe. It’s easily avoidable but if you get caught you’ll get seriously hurt, so I’d advise you dodge backwards for this one too.
After you beat Pagurus, you can peacefully make your way to the Expired Grove which includes a boss fight with the Diseased Lichenthrope.
