Lacey Elite Four battle guide- Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the Indigo Disk

Speaking as a sub-fairy main, Lacey isn’t the strongest Fairy user I’ve seen, but Fairy is still a type of pure evil by its very nature (source: all my victims in competitive I’ve tortured). She doesn’t have the strongest or scariest Pokémon, but some of them can still pack a nasty hit. Here’s her full team:

Granbull, level 78

  • Ability: Intimidate- Lowers the opponents’ attack by one stage upon sending it out.
  • Item: Expert Belt- Attacks have 1.2x powers if they’re super effective.
  • Play Rough: Fairy type, Physical, 135 power, 90% accuracy, 10% chance to lower target’s Attack by one stage.
  • Ice Punch: Ice type, Physical, 75 power, 10% chance to freeze the target.
  • Stomping Tantrum: Ground type, Physical, 75 power.
  • Fire Punch: Fire type, Physical, 75 power, 10% chance to burn the target.
  • Weaknesses: Poison, Steel
  • Resistances: Bug, Fighting, Dark
  • Immunities: Dragon

The coverage on this Pokémon is incredibly annoying to deal with. You cannot simply throw a Poison or Steel Pokémon at it. The Fire/Flying Pokémon, Charizard, or Talonflame, aren’t hit hard by any one thing it does, and then you can hit it with pure power. Otherwise, you could simply stick with neutral coverage.

Whimsicott, level 78

  • Ability: Prankster- Non-attacking moves go first over everyone else (Does not work if targeting a Dark type.)
  • Item: Focus Sash- Allows user to survive a single KO if at full HP.
  • Moonblast: Fairy type, Special, 143 power, 30% chance to lower target’s Special Attack one stage.
  • Light Screen: For five turns, damage from special attacks is halved on the user’s side.
  • Tailwind: Speed is doubled on the user’s side for four turns.
  • Energy Ball: Grass type, Special, 135 power, 10% chance to lower target’s Special Defense.
  • Weaknesses: Poison (x4), Steel, Fire, Flying, Ice (x2)
  • Resistances: Fighting, Dark, Ground, Water, Electric
  • Immunities: Dragon

Whimsicott is fast, but not built to last. Any poison type that can hit it for decent damage will take this Pokémon down quickly, assuming Granbull doesn’t get it with Stomping Tantrum first.

Primarina, level 79

  • Ability: Liquid Voice- The Pokémon’s sound moves become water type.
  • Item: Throat Spray- Upon using a sound-based move, is consumed and raises Special Attack one stage.
  • Hyper Voice: Water type, Special, 135 power, hits all targets. Passes through Subsitutues.
  • Ice Beam: Ice type, Special, 90 power, 10% chance to freeze the target.
  • Moonblast: Fairy type, Special, 143 power, 30% chance to lower target’s Special Attack one stage.
  • Shadow Ball: Ghost type, Special, 80 power, 20% chance to lower target’s Special Defense one stage.
  • Weaknesses: Poison, Electric, Grass
  • Resistances: Bug, Fighting, Dark, Water, Fire, Ice
  • Immunities: Dragon

This thing is trying to set itself up for power with Throat Spray. Hitting it hard with an Electric, Steel, or Poison type quickly should stop it from doing so, but it’s not likely to go down in one hit.

Galarian Slowbro, level 79

  • Ability: Quick Draw- Pokémon has a 30% chance to move first regardless of speed.
  • Item: Sitrus Berry- Restores 1/4 of HP when health is below 50%.
  • Psychic: Psychic type, Special, 135 power, 10% chance to lower target’s Special Defense by one stage.
  • Ice Beam: Ice type, Special, 90 power, 10% chance to freeze the target.
  • Shell Side Arm: Poison type, Special, 135 power, 20% chance to poison.
  • Flamethrower: Fire type, Special, 90 power, 10% chance to burn the target.
  • Weaknesses: Ground, Dark, Ghost
  • Resistances: Fighting, Poison, Grass, Fairy

You are somewhat at the mercy of Quick Draw’s RNG here. Slowbro has a lot of good coverage to contend with from this spread. You can wall it decently enough with Colossal or even Probopass, but a strong Ghost-type that isn’t Gengar will also do the job with Ghost-type moves, such as Mimikyu. Normally Dark would also work just fine if not for the fact its teammates would immediately crush any Dark-type Pokémon.

Alcremie, level 79

  • Ability: Sweet Veil- This Pokémon and its allies cannot fall asleep.
  • Item: Leftovers- Restores 6% of health at the end of every turn.
  • Alluring Voice: Fairy type, Special, 135 power, confuses target if they’ve boosted a stat this turn. New to the DLC. Will bypass Substitute.
  • Decorate: Raises the target’s Attack and Special Attack two stages.
  • Recover: The user recovers 50% of their health.
  • Giga Drain: Grass type, Special, 75 power, user recovers 50% of the HP drained.
  • Weaknesses: Poison, Steel
  • Resistances: Bug, Fighting, Dark
  • Immunities: Dragon

Alcremie is set up to keep recovering health between Recover and Giga Drain, or worse, start buffing its allies with Decorate. A Poison or Steel type will do just fine to hit it hard until it faints.

Excadrill, level 80

  • Ability: Mold Breaker
  • Item: Assault Vest- Special Defense is doubled, but can only use attack moves.
  • High Horsepower: Ground type, Physical, 95 power, 95% accuracy.
  • Iron Head: Steel type, Physical, 80 power, 30% chance to make target flinch. (Target can’t move if it hasn’t gone already.)
  • Tera Blast: Fairy type, Physical, 120 power.
  • Rock Tomb: Rock type, Physical, 60 power, lowers target’s speed one stage.
  • Weaknesses: Poison, Steel
  • Resistances: Bug, Fighting, Dark
  • Immunities: Dragon

This incredibly tiny Excadrill terastallizes to Fairy upon being sent out. This is a good thing, as it makes Excadrill far less of a threat than it typically is. Try Corviknight to deal with it- you can still counter with Steel while not taking supereffective damage from anything. Most other Steel or Poison counters are torn apart.

And that should bring you full circle on how to beat Lacey from the Elite Four in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk. Beating Lacey gives you the Alluring Voice TM, a Special Fairy move with 80 power, perfect accuracy, and 10 base power points. Its main feature is it confuses the target if they’ve boosted a stat this turn. In short, it trades Dazzling Gleam’s wide range for having a secondary effect and bypassing Substitutes. There’s merit to both, but now you have more Fairy moves to build your cute little crimes against humanity.
