In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll meet a lot of new faces. But you’ll meet a lot of familiar ones, too, and sometimes they take the form of bosses. Here is our guide telling you how to beat the Fire Temple boss in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom – how to beat Fire Temple boss
When you visit Goron City near Death Mountain, you’ll encounter a lot of Goron youngsters who have abandoned their senses. They just can’t stop feasting on Marbled Stone. Clearly, something is amiss. When you journey to the Fire Temple, you’ll find out what this is.
Deep within the Fire Temple, which you can access only after you figure out how to beat Moragia, you encounter Marbled Gohma. It acts as the area guardian. To beat the Fire Temple boss, hit its weak spot while avoiding exploding boulders.
In one form or another, Gohma has appeared in nearly every Zelda game since the first one. I used to think it was a giant crab, but The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time made it clear the creature is closer to a spider. Since the start, the idea has always been to hit the eye (usually with an arrow). That’s the case again here. There are two main phases to the fight. Happily, Yunobo is along to help you survive both of them.
First Phase
Throughout the first phase, the Marbled Gohma starts by ramming one of its huge legs into the ground. Have Yunobo target a leg and smash it with a charged roll. He charges automatically, so you just have to aim and fire. As you take out legs in that fashion, watch out for boulders. The boss drops several at a time. They flash for a bit before exploding. Steer clear of their blast when possible. The blasts don’t hit that hard, though, especially if you have upgraded armor.
When you take out a leg or two, Marbled Gohma’s center mass collapses to the ground for a moment. Its eye glances around furiously. You can hit it with an arrow or two as you run toward it. Get close and climb up its body. Hit it its exposed eye with your most powerful melee weapon a few times. The boss will eventually recover enough to shake you free and then the process repeats.
Second Phase
Once you eliminate half of the Fire Temple boss’s life meter, the battle’s more difficult second phase begins. Now the Marbled Gohma skitters along the ceiling. You still want to shoot it with arrows, and you still want to aim for the eye. It also fires a series of rocks that drop in a tight ring around you. Have Yunobo break you free from that ring immediately.
I found that the fight goes best when I wait until the Marbled Gohma stops moving, right before it launches an attack. Otherwise, its rapid movements cause most arrows to miss. You need to hit its eye with every shot you can. Hopefully, you brought enough arrows. Consider downing a potion to improve your attack rating, so that each hit deals more damage.
Yunobo’s roll carries him partway up the sides of the battle area. If you move quickly, you can have him roll up and take out a leg or two as Marbled Gohma positions itself near an edge of the ceiling. I didn’t rely on that approach because I brought a lot of arrows. Several direct shots from your bow, even with standard arrows, will drain the last of Marbled Gohma’s life meter. That’s how to beat the Fire Temple boss with style!
