How to beat ED-209 in RoboCop: Rogue City

This boss is one tough cookie.

ED-209 is one of the earliest bosses in RoboCop: Rogue City and the most challenging encounter until now. Like in the movie, this foe is no joke, but fear not. Here’s how to beat ED-209 in RoboCop: Rogue City.

Beating the ED-209 Boss Battle

ED-209 is a brute, and you’ll have to think fast to control the fight. Your opponent always walks in a straight line toward you while shooting, and its weak point is the open grill on the front pictured above.

The worst thing about this encounter is you’re forced to get hit. RoboCop is too slow to avoid damage altogether, so keep your distance and attack from cover. Here are a few tips for surviving the battle:

Use the Sniper Rifle

There’s a sniper rifle in the far corner of the arena near the health packs. This weapon packs a punch but is a little tricky to aim. Once you have the rifle, get as much distance as you can from ED-209 and go wild! It’s not worth getting hit through greedy play, so reposition if needed.

Shoot the hazards above the arena

I completely missed these on my first attempt, but you can drop metal pipes on ED-209 by shooting the holders above. If you hit your opponent, it does respectable damage and is worth taking time to line up the shot.

Flammable objects are dangerous

Explodable items like gas cans and extinguishers do a ton of damage when thrown, but there’s a huge risk. ED-209 can blow these items up when you’re holding them! If that happens, kiss goodbye to a ton of your health. If you’ve leveled up your Armor stat, you can mitigate some damage, but exercise extreme caution.

Save your health packs for the right moment

There are two health packs on a table towards the back of the arena, and you’ll likely need both. Remember, these restore 50% of your health, so save them until you dip under that threshold.

Avoid the Rocket Volley at all costs

ED-209 can unleash a devastating rocket attack, which does ridiculous damage. Make sure you put something between you and your opponent when this happens. If you’re caught out in the open, try and strafe to avoid the volley.

What Skills should I invest in to beat ED-209?

Armor will help massively in the ED-209 fight if you’ve got points to spare. The Shield offers a temporary 80% damage reduction and is unlocked by investing 2 points into the Armor tree. You can also take the sting out of the rocket attack by investing 6 points into the skill.

Any other tips to beat ED-209?

Besides the tips above, my best advice is to be patient. The boss is a bullet sponge, and there’s no way to speed up the fight. It might take a few extra minutes to make space before shooting, but it’s better than restarting. Keep your distance, and I know you can do it.
