How to beat Bronya in Honkai: Star Rail – Boss Fight Guide

A showdown with the Commander of the Silvermane Guards.

Bronya is the first wall you’ll face in Honkai: Star Rail and serves as a ‘damage check’ for the first planet in the game. If your first encounter with the Commander of the Silvermane Guards didn’t go your way, this Boss Fight Guide should help. Let me show you how to beat Bronya in Honkai: Star Rail.

Bronya is one tough cookie, and you should expect no less from the Commander of the Silvermane Guards. Still, with a bit of preparation, you’ll emerge victorious.

Bronya hits hard and frequently calls for reinforcements throughout the fight. Although it’s tempting to ignore the soldiers, I recommend dealing with them unless you’re sure you can burst Bronya down in a few turns. If you keep the soldiers alive, Bronya effectively has multiple attacks per turn instead of one.

There’s not much you can do to interrupt Bronya unless you can break her bar. Trailblazer will be able to do this eventually, but the MVP of this fight is March 7th.

As this fight takes a while, and you probably don’t have a designated healer yet, March 7th’s Shields are incredible. Ensure you have enough Energy to cast one every time March has a turn.

If you have access to any other characters, feel free to use them, especially if you have an elemental advantage. Bronya is weak to the following:

  • Physical (White)
  • Fire (Red)
  • Imaginary (Yellow)

You’ll only have Imaginary damage if you were lucky with your Warps and snagged Welt. Bar breaks are nice, but Trailblazer’s physical damage is fine in this fight.

Ensure your team is Level 20

The Bronya boss battle is the first fight in Honkai: Star Rail, where your level really matters. If you’ve not spent any EXP items until now, you should have enough to max out your entire squad. As leveling up is slightly different here than in other turn-based RPGs, here’s what you need to do.

You earn a little Character EXP through fighting, but it’s a pitiful amount. Fortunately, you can use materials to level up your team much faster.

Choose your character, and press Level Up in the box at the bottom. Then press Auto-Add, and then Level Up

That’s all you need to do for now, but as you can see from the picture above, this makes a tremendous difference.

Level up your Light Cones

Light Cones may be a little hard to wrap your head around at first, thanks to the walls of text. However, these items greatly boost your survivability and are well worth equipping and leveling up.

Don’t worry if you don’t have many to pick from by the time you reach Bronya. Anything will do, and leveling them up to the max will put you in a great position to win the fight.

What about my team composition?

All content in Honkai: Star Rail is beatable with the story characters. Trailblazer, March 7th, Dan Heng, and Asta are all you need for this battle. If you’ve been lucky with your Warps, feel free to spice up your team, but it’s not essential. If you change your squad, I recommend at least keeping Trailblazer and March 7th.
