Cyberpunk 2077 is full of choices. The DLC, Phantom Liberty, is no exception to that. Even if you’ve paid for the experience, you can still decide to choose not to play it, which is as hilarious as it is a totally in-line thing for the game to do. X user @SynthPotato posted a video revealing a cutscene that plays if you screw up an early mission, locking you out of the DLC. Everyone should thank his brother for being so reckless. Here’s how to access the secret fail cutscene for Phantom Liberty.
How to get the fail cutscene for Phantom Liberty
To not spoil the cutscene, I’ve omitted it from this section, but have included it later in the post if you want to watch it.
This secret cutscene only plays if you’ve failed one of the early missions, making the questline impossible. The second mission in the story arc, Hole in the Sky, requires you to rescue the NUSA president after the SF1 crashes. Early on in the mission, you’ve got to pick up Rosalind Myers. You’ll be ordered to make your way to the crane at that point, although she’ll be all the way at the wreckage.
Typically in video games, you have all the time in the world to address ‘time urgent’ issues, as the only urgency is relayed through the narration. However, here, if you take your sweet time and ignore the quest, or don’t reach Myers, you’ll get a very special message from Songbird.

If you don’t want to get the ending yourself, or are far past it, then you can view the cutscene courtesy of SynthPotato.
I think it’s fantastic that you can not only choose not to play the DLC, but actively screw it up and kill the NUSA president. Not all Vs out there are going to be eager to help or save the president of the New United States of America, and the game allows you to indulge in that path choice. Unfortunately, the only effect of this outcome is the secret cutscene, and nothing else. I think it would be incredible if there was a whole separate story path that revolved around you not saving the president. Alas, we can’t complain too much, as Phantom Liberty is already awesome in its own right.
