At the time of writing, Hogwarts Legacy has sold an astounding 15 million copies, according to Statista. This makes it one of the highest-selling games of 2023. The game has had some serious competition for the number one spot, with Zelda and Starfield coming out in the same year.

Hogwarts Legacy has improved its chances of selling so many copies by being available on so many different platforms. It didn’t limit its sales the way Starfield did. It is available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox X, S, and One, PC, and Switch. No matter what your platform of choice is, you can get involved in the wild world of Hogwarts Legacy.

It isn’t surprising to see the roaring popularity of the Harry Potter universe brought to the gaming world. The enclosed and action-packed world of Hogwarts cries out for an RPG setting in which fans of the series can fully immerse themselves in the trials and tribulations of a wizarding school student.

I expect that even people who wouldn’t usually enjoy gaming have become residents of the hallowed halls of Hogwarts. The game offers something really rather unique for fans of the franchise. Being able to enroll in classes and visit some of your favorite locations from the films and books is an opportunity any fan can’t really pass up. It was only a matter of time before the IP got turned into a video game. With the amount of copies sold of Hogwarts Legacy, I really wouldn’t be surprised if we saw another.
