Dealing with the dead’s corpses and using them for any type of activity, let alone occult ones, is something that may be frowned upon – and illegal – in the real world, but completely normal in Necropolis, Path of Exile’s latest expansion. Crafting new and powerful items will require you to follow various steps that will require some backtracking due to RNG. However, if you are lucky, persistent, and also strategic, you will get to use this crafting system to your advantage to become a force to be reckoned with. Here are the things you will need to do to craft items in Path of Exile Necropolis.

Use the Lantern of Arimor and face Spirits

One of the main mechanics introduced during the Necropolis expansion in Path of Exile is the Lantern of Arimor. Whenever you visit a new map, a window will pop up that will show you the monsters that lurk in the area, as well as their modifiers. These modifiers are given by haunting Spirits, which we will get to address in a bit.

You can change this by using Allflame Embers to transform monster packs into new ones. Use this to summon enemy packs that will drop more and even rarer drops than the default ones. You can also choose to not use the Lantern and just stick with the set of monsters and modifiers you are given, or even choose to entirely skip the area if it is just too difficult for your current build.

Collecting corpses for a purpose

If you do choose to take on the map, once you have destroyed all the enemies in it, you may encounter several corpses which you can pick up. I know, a bit gruesome, but these corpses are essential for crafting. Each of these corpses will have specific modifiers that you will certainly need when crafting. This is why it is important to pick these up once you finish these maps and also why going for the higher-tier monsters is important – which translates to better corpse modifiers.

Using the Arimor’s Necropolis Graves for crafting

If you have finished collecting the corpses you find appropriate for your crafting, you will have to talk to Undertaker Arimor. He will take you to the Necropolis, more specifically, to the Necropolis Grave. You will first have to put your collected corpses in each of the personal graves in the area. Once you are done and are certain of your choice, click on Craft.

This will make the Tome of Arimor to appear. Thankfully, while the modifiers you get from corpses will be RNG-tied, you can select which base item you wish to craft thanks to the Tome. Once you have set your choice on a base item type, you can now initiate the crafting. Remember the Spirits? By clicking Exorcise, you will remove them from the corpses you picked up before, allowing these modifiers to be applied to your newly crafted item.

You will also be able to craft Unique items in Arimor’s Necropolis as long as you gather corpses that are being hunted by named Spirits. Moreover, all the grave slots need to be occupied by monster corpses possessed by named characters or spirits. So, be sure to aim for these and overall higher-tier corpses to create the best weapons you can get on Path of Exile Necropolis.
