How do Ammunition Ranged Slots work in Lords of the Fallen (LotF)

Don't fire till you see the whites of their eyes.

In Lords of the Fallen, you may be partial to a build that uses a ranged weapon, such as a crossbow. Ranged weaponry gives you a significant edge, but it comes at the cost of your ammunition. To be an effective ranged build in Lords of the Fallen, you’d better know how ranged weapons and ammunition work.

Ammo Cost in Lords of the Fallen Explained

In Lords of the Fallen, ranged weapons have many types of projectiles they could use, meaning there are many types of ammunition for you to fire at enemies. Instead of collecting lots of these ammunitions, Lords of the Fallen has instead opted for a system where each ammo type simply “consumes ammunition.” So you don’t have to collect a bunch of different ammo, as they all consume from a collective pool.

Your ammo count is shown below your stamina if you have a ranged weapon selected. No matter what type of projectile you have, each one will simply consume one or more of those ammo points. Generally, the more powerful the ammunition, the higher the Ammo Cost, making you have to be more careful in combat.

Resting at a Vestige or Umbral Seedling will replenish all of your ammo, meaning you don’t have to keep it up yourself. Alternatively, you can use an ammo pouch, or a better ammo item, to replenish your ammo mid-combat. These are very useful if you rely heavily on your ranged weapons.

How to Upgrade Ammunition Slots in Lords of the Fallen

If you want to hold more ammunition, you’ll need more Ammo Slots. To do this, invest stat points into your Endurance or your Vitality when you level up, as they both improve your carrying capacity. The more carrying capacity, the more ammo you can hold and therefore use. The game is really not explicit about your ammo stats, even in your character menu, so keep track by counting the squares that represent your ammo count.

It would generally be recommended to upgrade your Endurance over your Vitality, however, as that will also increase your stamina. Stamina is typically valued more over health, as any seasoned Soulslike player will know.

I hope this has been useful for you, lamp bearer, and that you’ll be able to make the most out of your ranged weapons. For more Lords of the Fallen help, cast your gaze to PC Invasion.
