House of Ashes – Theatrical Cut walkthrough (Part 5)

Recommended Videos

This is the fifth part of our House of Ashes Theatrical Cut walkthrough and guide. We’ll talk about the following chapters: The Ancient One, Brothers, The City, and a special scene.

Special Scene: Little Hope or Camp Slayer

Prior to The Ancient One chapter, you’ll be treated to a flashback scene. Depending on certain choices that you’ve made, you might even see a reference to Little Hope.

The Ancient One (Eric)

Eric, Rachel, and Nick all find each other alive and well. The reunion is a bit awkward since Eric and Rachel are separated, and Rachel has been seeing Nick.

  • QTE/possible death/important decision #1 – Balathu will pop up and attack Nick. Choose to help him. Eric will push Balathu down a hole and he’ll slip, too. Mash those buttons to pull him back up. Otherwise, he’ll fall and break his neck.
  • Important decision #2 – Once everything’s clear, the trio will need to settle matters. Choose the loving reply with Eric. If all goes well, he and Rachel will get back together. This affects the Until Death bearing.

Brothers (Jason)

Jason and Salim will go down the rickety elevator. You’ll find yourself in a fairly short underground cavern. Try to examine all the objects here to obtain secrets before you interact with the ledge.

  • Premonition: Mauled – This stone tablet is fairly close to the elevator. The corner is shrouded in shadows, so it might be hard to see.
  • Randolph’s Journal 9 – You’ll find this along the tunnel near the pocketwatch secret.

Jason and Salim start out as enemies on opposite sides of a war. But, if you chose the friendly/conciliatory remarks whenever they’ve interacted, then Jason will open up about his own regrets. This will strengthen the bond between the two soldiers.

The City (Jason)

Okay, looks like the cat’s out of the bag. Yes, House of Ashes has aliens. Actually, they’re vampire aliens to be exact. The pathway here provides a look at the gargantuan underground city of this starfaring race. You could find a few secrets and interesting stuff, too:

  • Mysterious Artifact – Instead of jumping down the ledge, look to your left first. Flip the giant shell to get this secret.
  • Seated Vampire – You can interact with the fossilized creature. But, be sure to pass the QTE when the device falls down on you.
  • Preserved Human – There’s a person here who had half their head lopped off, surviving only because of a strange, amber-colored goop.
  • Fossilized Creature – Later, you’ll reach a passageway filled with cocoons and green vines/tendrils. The goal is to avoid stepping on the tendrils until you reach a ledge off to the side. If you get there, you can examine the bones for a secret. However, if you step on the tendrils twice, it will alert a monster. Salim and Jason get chased, but the other characters manage to save you in the nick of time (pun intended).

All right, let’s go to the next part of our House of Ashes Theatrical Cut walkthrough to discuss additional chapters.
