The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes guide – How to unlock scene selection, Curator’s Cut, and bonus features
Scene selection
This is the easiest one since all you need to do is reach a scene/chapter in House of Ashes to make it available in the scene selection menu. However, be forewarned that I’ve also experienced a couple of issues with this, such as some scenes not appearing on the list until I reloaded the game. Lastly, make sure you keep backup saves to make the entire process smoother (in case you want to replay key moments, QTEs, and decisions without having to rewatch the entire thing).
Curator’s Cut
This gets unlocked after you complete the campaign. However, you do need to pre-order the game first. If you weren’t able to do that, then you’ll need to wait until much later once it becomes available to all players. The Curator’s Cut lets you experience the campaign from the perspective of other characters. For instance, if a chapter in the Theatrical Cut had you using Nick, then the Curator’s Cut might let you play as Salim instead.
Bonus Features
House of Ashes has the following bonus features:
- Interview with Ashley Tisdale – This is immediately available and is actually on YouTube (you can watch the video at the end of this guide).
- Interview with a Monster Maker – Requires a Theatrical Cut completion. This gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how the developers designed the monsters in the game.
- Statement of Randolph Hodgson: Part 1 – Requires Randolph’s Journal Entries #1 to #5.
- Statement of Randolph Hodgson: Part 2 – Requires Randolph’s Journal Entries #6 to #10.
Randolph Hodgson is the leader of the archeological expedition that explored the Zagros Mountains many decades before your team arrived there. These two features simply let you rewatch the cinematics that you’ve seen in-game. You can learn more in our Randolph’s Journal locations guide.
