Honkai Star Rail MOC White Knight Chronicles guide (1-12)

Clear Forgotten Hall stages to earn free Stellar Jades.

A new Memory of Chaos phase is now live in Honkai Star Rail’s Forgotten Hall, and White Knight Chronicles is one of the most straightforward challenges we’ve seen in some time.

As long as you have a decent lineup of strong units, you should be able to clear all 12 stages of White Knight Chronicles without much hassle. The later stages won’t be easy, but thankfully, there aren’t many teambuilding restrictions this time around.

Honkai Star Rail White Knight Chronicles Guide

As per usual, White Knight Chronicles will be live for 42 days. This Memory of Chaos phase begins on Monday, April 15, 2024, and will last until Monday, May 29, 2024. That’s well into Honkai Star Rail version 2.2, so you can even wait for the new 5-star units from that update to debut if you want to use them in this Memory of Chaos challenge.

Here’s the Memory Turbulence effect for White Knight Chronicles.

Memory Turbulence: After every attack launched by an ally, apply 1 stack of Memory Imprint to all enemies. Enemies will Memory Imprint receive 5% more DMG. This effect stacks up to six stack(s). When Memory Imprint stacks to maximum stacks, immediately deal DMG based on a certain percentage of each enemy’s respective Max HP 1 time to all enemies. When enemy targets enter a battle and other units in the field currently have Memory Imprints, the new enemies will receive the same number of Memory Imprint stacks as those on the field.

Remember, frequent attacks are the name of the game here. Follow-up attacks are immensely helpful. You want to land five attacks every wave so you can get the maximum bonus from Memory Imprint.

Stage 1

As long as you have a team of level 80 units, the first stage of White Knight Chronicles shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge since the enemies are only level 68 and that level advantage goes a long way. Use these team setups to make quick work of stage one.

  • Team 1
    • Clara
    • Sparkle
    • Silver Wolf
    • Bronya
  • Team 2
    • Acheron
    • Kafka
    • Serval
    • Ruan Mei

Clara will be your hypercarry for the first half and with Bronya and Sparkle supporting, she’ll hit like a truck. Silver Wolf will make enemies weaker on top of that, too. You can replace these units with any Quantum or Physical characters if you want.

The second team features Acheron in the driver’s seat with Kafka and Serval ensuring that she gets the maximum possible damage bonus from her Traces. Ruan Mei is one of the best Harmony units in the game so she fits in great here, too. Again, you can swap these characters out with any Electric or Ice units of your choice.

Stage 2

The second stage ramps things up a little bit, but it’s still incredibly easy as long as you’re at the level cap. Try these lineups to get through stage two.

  • Team 1
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Ruan Mei
    • Sparkle
    • Gallagher
  • Team 2
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan
    • Bronya
    • Bailu

Imbibitor Lunae can carry you through the first half with Ruan Mei and Sparkle‘s support, and Gallagher is a great healer for this battle since the enemies have Fire weaknesses and he can also aid the team with minor debuffs. If you need another Imaginary character to swap in, then try Dr. Ratio. Make sure to change the lineup to allow for the debuffs that Dr. Ratio needs to excel, however.

The second team is the classic Acheron and Black Swan duo. Bronya will ensure that Acheron kills enemies as fast as possible, and Bailu is there just in case you need to heal. If you don’t have Acheron or Black Swan, then you can swap in other Electric or Wind DPS characters like Jing Yuan, Kafka, or Blade.

Stage 3

The third stage has some really annoying enemies like True Sting, but it’s nothing you can’t handle. These teams will make quick work of stage three.

  • Team 1
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan
    • Luka
    • Bailu
  • Team 2
    • Ruan Mei
    • Fu Xuan
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Jingliu

The first team relies on Acheron and Black Swan yet again, with Luka filling in for Acheron’s second required Nihility unit since he capitalizes on the enemies’ Physical weaknesses. Again, you can swap out Bailu for any healer or tank on your roster. If you don’t have Acheron or Black Swan, then Jing Yuan, Dr. Ratio, Kafka, and Serval are great replacements.

The second team relies on Jingliu and Imbibitor Lunae to clear the field of enemies, especially during the battle with True Sting. Ruan Mei will greatly increase the team’s damage output and Fu Xuan will keep everyone protected. Seele, Silver Wolf, and Xueyi are solid Quantum replacements if you need any, and Herta is excellent for this stage if you need an Ice unit.

Stage 4

You’ll start to encounter some friction on the fourth stage, but the elemental weaknesses allow for some really strong team combinations. Try these lineups if you’re having trouble clearing stage four.

  • Team 1
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Sparkle
    • Fu Xuan
    • Clara
  • Team 2
    • Black Swan
    • Jingliu
    • Luocha
    • Blade

If you couldn’t already tell, Imbibitor Lunae is insanely good for this Memory of Chaos phase. The first battle relies on him to carry and Sparkle to support, plus Clara is there to help out against certain enemies with Physical weaknesses. She’s especially good since these enemies have AOE attacks that will trigger her follow-up attack often. Fu Xuan is a good support for this half, but you can swap her out with an Abundance or Preservation unit of your choice.

The second team relies on Black Swan, Jingliu, and Blade to demolish enemies while Luocha keeps their HP bars topped off. It’s a powerful lineup that’s also quite flexible, so you can mix in any units of your choice if you don’t have them. Gallagher is a good Luocha replacement, and you can use Dan Heng, Heta, Pela, or Sampo if you need other replacements.

Stage 5

Stage five features one of the strongest bosses you’ve faced so far, so you’ll want to save your best units for the fight with Stellaron Hunter Sam. Other than that, though, it’s business as usual. Try these team lineups to succeed on stage five.

  • Team 1
    • Jing Yuan
    • Bronya
    • Silver Wolf
    • Gallagher
  • Team 2
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Fu Xuan
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan

The first battle is fairly straightforward so it doesn’t require any special strategies. Jing Yuan will deal most of the damage while Bronya and Silver Wolf buff and debuff. Gallagher is the best healer for this fight since nearly every enemy has Fire weaknesses.

The second fight culminates in a duel with Sam, and you’ll need to spend skill points to reduce the power of his Ultimate attack. As such, Imbibitor Lunae is the best choice here since he can consume multiple. Acheron and Black Swan can also deal a ton of damage to all units even if they don’t match their elemental weaknesses, and Fu Xuan will prevent Sam from dealing too much damage to any one of your allies in particular.

Stage 6

Stage six is the first real challenge of Memory of Chaos since the enemies are level 80 and you don’t have any numbers advantages on your side. Your team compositions matter a lot here, so use these lineups to come out on top.

  • Team 1
    • Clara
    • Sparkle
    • Fu Xuan
    • Pela
  • Team 2
    • Jingliu
    • Jing Yuan
    • Bailu
    • Bronya

Clara can demolish the first half’s lineup since they’re all weak to Physical, and Sparkle and Pela will make her hit like a truck. Fu Xuan will keep everyone alive, but you can swap her out for someone else if you’d like. Good replacements for this half are Xueyi, Seele, Silver Wolf, Sushang, and Blade.

The second half relies on Jingliu and Jing Yuan to clear adds and deal damage. You can swap out Bronya for another buffer/debuffer and change Bailu for any other sustain unit if you’d like. If you don’t have Jingliu or Jing Yuan, then you can swap in Acheron, Kafka, Blade, Gepard, or even Yanqing.

Stage 7

If you’re a veteran Honkai Star Rail player, then you’re starting White Knight Chronicles here at stage seven. The seventh stage is pretty easy compared to the others, surprisingly. Try these team lineups to get three stars on stage seven.

  • Team 1
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Gallagher
    • Pela
    • Ruan Mei
  • Team 2
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan
    • Bailu
    • Sparkle

Surprise, surprise, Imbibitor Lunae is the main carry for the first half yet again. Pela, Ruan Mei, and Gallagher will turn him into a DPS monster that can make quick work of enemies. AOE abilities are appreciated for this half too, since the Senior Staff Team Leader will continually summon adds during the fight. If you need replacements for this battle, then Dr. Ratio is a good Imaginary DPS as long as you pair him with debuffers that increase his follow-up attack chance.

The second half uses the tried and true Acheron/Black Swan duo with Sparkle increasing their damage output. If you don’t have them, then Jing Yuan, Serval, Kafka, and Blade work wonderfully here. The same goes for Gallagher as a healer.

Stage 8

There’s a big difficulty spike on stage eight because the bosses are particularly annoying, but their elemental weaknesses allow for some great team compositions. If you’re struggling to clear the eighth stage, use these teams.

  • Team 1
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Clara
    • Bailu
    • Bronya
  • Team 2
    • Ruan Mei
    • Sparkle
    • Jingliu
    • Gepard

The first half features yet another Imbibitor Lunae hypercarry with Clara supporting as a sub-DPS since these enemies will trigger her follow-up attacks frequently. Bailu and Bronya can be swapped out for other healers and buffers if you wish. If you need DPS replacements, then try Dr. Ratio, Sushang, Kafka, or Acheron.

For the second phase, the True Sting is going to give you the most trouble. That’s where Jingliu comes in. With powerful AOE potential, you won’t get swarmed. Ruan Mei and Sparkle will make her hit even harder, and Gepard will keep everyone protected while also whittling down the Weakness Break bars of True Sting and its allies. Good replacements for this half include Xueyi, Seele, Silver Wolf, Clara, Qingque, and Pela.

Stage 9

Things get really annoying in stage nine because of some particularly troublesome foes, but it’s nothing that you can’t handle. Try these teams to make the most out of this stage.

  • Team 1
    • Dr. Ratio
    • Acheron
    • Kafka
    • Fu Xuan
  • Team 2
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Bronya
    • Blade
    • Luocha

The first team is all about Nihility, with Acheron, Dr. Ratio, and Kafka all benefitting from stacking DoTs and debufs. Fu Xuan will help counter some elemental weaknesses, but she’s really just there to keep everyone alive and feed Memory Imprint when she’s not adding shields. With this lineup, you’re not completely shut down if the Aurumaton Gatekeeper imprisons a key ally. If you need to replace these units, then Xueyi, Serval, and Jing Yuan are all great DPS alternatives.

Even though the second half doesn’t recommend Imaginary characters, every enemy except one has Imaginary weaknesses so Imbibitor Lunae is a super great DPS here with Luocha supporting. Bronya and Blade will take care of the Wind weaknesses. As long as you manage the Malefic Ape’s target, you shouldn’t have an issue with this fight. You can replace these units with Clara, Jingliu, Asta, and Pela to name a few.

Stage 10

Stage 10 is a doozy because you’re up against Stellaron Hunter Sam in the second half. The first half is thankfully much easier, so you can burn through it and save your turns for the second half. Try these team lineups if you’re having a hard time on this stage.

  • Team 1
    • Blade
    • Jing Yuan
    • Bronya
    • Gallagher
  • Team 2
    • Jingliu
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Fu Xuan
    • Sparkle

The first half is a relatively straightforward set of foes, so Blade and Jing Yuan can make short work of them with Bronya buffing them. Gallagher is the best support choice here since he counteracts some Fire weaknesses and provides some small but helpful debuffs that will help you clear faster. Suitable alternatives for this fight include Clara, Serval, Kafka, Asta, and Silver Wolf. You can add in Acheron and Black Swan if you’d rather go that route, too.

The second half is all about surviving Sam’s attacks. Consuming skill points will reduce Sam’s power, so Imbibitort Lunae and Jingliu are perfect here. Sparkle will ensure that you always have enough skill points while also buffing your damage output, and Fu Xuan will ensure that your team survives Sam’s attacks if things get hairy. You can swap in Luocha or Dr. Ratio for an Imaginary alternative (Yukong works well instead of Sparkle, too), and Acheron is an amazing choice for this battle as well.

Stage 11

Keeping with tradition, stage 11 features back-to-back bosses. You should already be familiar with both Yanqing and Bronya, however, and the same usual strategies apply here. These are the best teams to take these two down.

  • Team 1
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan
    • Luocha
    • Ruan Mei
  • Team 2
    • Clara
    • Gallagher
    • Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Asta

Acheron and Black Swan can work in just about any situation, but the fight with Yanqing is especially well-suited for them. With Luocha on the roster, you can cover all of Yanqing’s weaknesses and make quick work of his summoned swords, too. Jing Yuan is a great DPS alternative here, and the same goes for Blade. If you don’t have Ruan Mei, then Pela is a solid replacement for that role.

The second fight pits you against Bronya. Clara counters every enemy with her Physical damage and is especially good against Bronya since more incoming attacks mean more outgoing follow-up attacks. Imbibitor Lunae can make quick work of every foe too since they’re all weak to Imaginary, and while Asta whittles down the Weakness Break bars of enemies weak to Fire, she’ll buff the team’s ATK. Gallagher accomplishes the same goal, too. You can replace these units with a Nihility-focused team comprised of Dr. Ratio, Guinaifen, and Luka if you wish.

Stage 12

The twelfth and final stage features a familiar face and the brand-new Aventurine boss, so there’s a lot to prepare for. Try these team compositions if you’re struggling to clear stage 12.

  • Team 1
    • Ruan Mei
    • Kafka
    • Gallagher
    • Jing Yuan
  • Team 2
    • Acheron
    • Black Swan
    • Sparkle
    • Fu Xuan

The first team makes use of Kafka and Jing Yuan as the primary DPS units with Ruan Mei supporting and Gallagher healing and applying minor debuffs. Since the enemy lineup is incredibly weak to Lightning, Kafka and Jing Yuan are excellent choices. Plus, their excellent AOE potential lets you clear the field all at once. If you need replacements for this fight, then try Acheron, Seele, Silver Wolf, Xueyi, Qingque, Himeko, or Serval.

For the second team, the all-time great Acheron and Black Swan duo is back. In this fight, you need to make sure you can survive Aventurine‘s gambling mechanic by earning enough points. You need to hit multiple dice at once to do so, so save your skill points (and Fu Xuan’s Ultimate) to outroll him. Sparkle will take the hit every time, but Fu Xuan‘s shield will ensure that nobody takes too much damage at once. Strong alternatives for the Aventurine fight are Clara, Jing Yuan, Kafka, Himeko, Imbibitor Lunae, and Jingliu.
