Honkai Star Rail: Best build for Gepard – Relics, Light Cones, Eidolons and Abilities

One of three Landau siblings.

Gepard is probably the most underrated 5-star character you can unlock in Honkai: Star Rail. His combat type is Ice, while his Path is The Preservation. This makes him a very good defensive player that can shield your teammates from any attack. Don’t ignore him if you have him, Gepard is quite useful when you want to keep your team alive. We’ll explain the best Relics, Light Cones, Eidolons, and Abilities for Gepard’s build in Honkai: Star Rail.

How to build the best Gepard in Honkai: Star Rail

Light Cones

Since Gepard deals Ice DMG, he can freeze enemies, alongside using an ice shield for his Ultimate. So, defense is the main focus for this character. A good 3-star starter Light Cone would be ‘Amber‘, which will increase his DEF, and even further if he’s under 50% HP.

For a good 4-star Light Cone, you should try ‘Landau’s Choice‘. This will make Gepard more likely to be attacked, but with the DMG reduced. The best 5-star Light Cone is the one with his picture on it called ‘Moment of Victory‘. There are quite a few effects with this Light Cone. Not only is his DEF and Effect Hit Rate increased, he’s more likely to get hit by enemies. Also, when hit, his DEF raises even more until the end of his turn.

  • Amber – Any Warp
  • Landau’s Choice – Any Warp
  • Moment of Victory – Regular Warp, Light Cone Event Warp

Relics

There are a few different Relic sets that can fit Gepard best. First off, you should try to use the ‘Knight of Purity Palace‘ set, which increases DEF. If you use the four-piece set, it will also increase the max DMG absorbed by his shields.

If you want those in a two piece set with another good set, you could add on the ‘Guard of Wuthering Snow‘ Relics. At two pieces, they reduce DMG taken. If you use this as a four-piece set, it can restore HP and Energy if Gepard’s health is below 50%. When looking at the right Planar Ornaments for Gepard, it’s best to choose the ‘Belebog of the Architects‘ set. This will increase his DEF, and he’ll gain even more when his Effect Hit Rate is above 50%.

  • Knight of Purity Palace – Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Holy Hymn, Cloudford, Xianzhou Luofu
  • Guard of Wuthering Snow – Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Providence, Everwinter Hill, Jarilo-VI
  • Belebog of the Architects – Simulated Universe World 6, Herta’s Office, Herta Space Station

Abilities

It’s important to focus on his Ultimate first and foremost, as it will give all of your teammates a hefty shield. His Skill is also good for damaging enemies, alongside freezing them. When looking to upgrade his Traces, you should prioritize his Ultimate, Talent, and Technique. While his Talent can restore his health when hit by a killing blow, his Technique gives all allies a shield when the next battle begins. If you’re looking to upgrade anything, upgrade his defensive abilities.

Eidolons

Like with any 5-star character, it’s pretty rare to get doubles of them. But in the off-chance that you get Eidolons for Gepard, make sure to use them. Some of the earlier Eidolons aren’t so focused on DEF, but ‘Faith Moves Mountains‘ and ‘Unyielding Resolve‘ are some of the best abilities to get. Of course, you can still build a great Gepard without his Eidolons, but there’s nothing wrong with receiving them either.
