PC gamers should be super excited au the thought of the Homeworld series being enhanced to take advantage of today’s modern technology. Homeworld has to be up there as one of the finest strategy games ever made. That’s a fact!
Gearbox has now decided that the new versions of the strategy epics will not be called Homeworld HD but instead Homeworld Remastered. So why the name change? Gearbox posted:
“Previously, we’d been referring to this effort as Homeworld HD but as work progressed it became clear that title didn’t properly communicate the scope of the work. This is more than a simple re-release or up-res — given the input we’ve received from fans, mod makers and series veterans, the result is full-fledged remastering of nearly all aspects alongside the archival Classic versions.”
To accompany the name change news, a new site for the newly-named game has been launched and they’re also probing fans about a possible Collector’s Edition and what it could contain. The Mothershop models on show are rather nice.
I would set a few pennies aside in preparation for the Homeworld Remastered release, with any luck these new versions will make the classics even better.
