Hogwarts Legacy guide – How to unlock Wingardium Leviosa

The Wingardium Leviosa spell in Hogwarts Legacy is available a few hours into the campaign. Basically, on your “third day” as a student, you’ll attend Herbology class. It’s possible that Professor Garlick won’t give you an assignment, but don’t worry about it since you’ll receive one after you finish the Jackdaw’s Rest main quest. This should pop up around the same time as the assignments/tasks for Diffindo, Confringo, and broom flying, so make sure you read the Owl Post mail from your Herbology teacher.

The task to get Wingardium Leviosa in Hogwarts Legacy requires you to use the Venomous Tentacula and Mandrake against enemies. The Mandrake has a special requirement in that it has to affect two or more enemies simultaneously. So, how exactly do you acquire these?

  • The supplies can be purchased from the Dogweed and Deathcap shop in the northern outskirts of Hogsmeade.
  • If you buy seed packets, you’ll need to wait for the plants to grow (roughly 10 minutes).
  • Alternatively, you can just buy them as ready-to-use combat items. The Mandrake costs 500 gold and the Venomous Tentacula costs 600 gold.

Once you have both deadly plant items, you’ll need to find an area with a few enemies clustered together (i.e., the Forbidden Forest has decent spots). For the Venomous Tentacula, you can plop it down and it’ll attack a hostile within its range. As for the Mandrake, make sure that there are several opponents around you (i.e., roughly within 30 meters). Then, bring out the Mandrake and watch it scream and stun your foes.

Related: Since you’ll be battling some foes, you might as well tackle this alongside the assignment for the Diffindo spell.

If you do it right, the tallies should be completed. Return to Professor Garlick and she’ll show you the pattern (which sort of looks like a “Y” with an odd shape). Trace it successfully to unlock the Wingardium Leviosa spell in Hogwarts Legacy.

As mentioned earlier, it’s used to manipulate objects in mid-air, essentially making it a utility skill for exploration, traversal, and puzzle-solving. It’s different from Levioso which is a quick-cast ability for combat. The controls are:

  • F and V to bring an object closer or further away.
  • Q and E to rotate it.

Hogwarts Legacy is available via Steam.
