Hogwarts Legacy: How to find the ‘Cache in the Castle’ quest treasure

Although the greatest treasure of all is EXP points.

Hogwarts, secrets, and treasure maps all belong together in a word pairing. So it’s no wonder Hogwarts Legacy includes a treasure hunting side quest early on in the game. There’s few things more exciting than a little treasure hunt, so here’s how to find the ‘Cache in the Castle’ treasure in Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to find the ‘Cache in the Castle’ treasure starting location

As a prerequisite, you must have completed the first journey to Hogsmeade in the main story. If you’re wondering how, be sure to check out our guide on how to reach the all-wizard town. Once you’re passed that point in the story, talk to Arthur Plummly just outside the Charms Classroom.

He’ll tell you he found two treasure maps and ask you if you wish to take on one while he follows the other. Agree to try your hand at treasure hunting and you’ll start the quest to find the ‘Cache in the Castle’ treasure. You’ll see the map appear on the screen.

Use a Floo Station to fast travel to the Defense Against The Dark Arts Tower and go down the stairs. The ‘dinosaur’ skeleton is your first treasure map landmark.

Go through the doors directly behind the dragon statue and climb up the stairs. Your character will remark that you found the portrait in the map.

Use Revelio on the portrait, followed by Accio on the secret knob at the top of it. The painting will open a secret area behind itself and reveal a chest. Inside is an Authentic Historian’s Uniform you can use as a robe appearance in the gear menu.

Hogwarts Legacy: How to find the Cache in the Castle treasure – Finish

With that, you’re finished. You’ve successfully found the ‘Cache in the Castle’ treasure in Hogwarts Legacy. With all three locations visited, return to Arthur by the Charms Classroom to complete the quest. There’s also a regular chest directly behind him with some gold, if you haven’t gotten it already.
