Descendo is a spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Compared to Flipendo, which knocks down an enemy by turning them upside down, this one is a straight and impactful slam on the ground. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy guide to help you unlock the Descendo spell.

Hogwarts Legacy guide – How to unlock Descendo
The Descendo spell in Hogwarts Legacy is available halfway through the campaign (i.e., usually after completing Percival Rackham’s Trial). You should’ve attended your first Divination class, which also leads to an assignment from Professor Onai. There are a couple of tasks here:
- Cast Depulso on a levitating enemy – Find an enemy and cast Levioso to make it float in mid-air. Then, cast Depulso to push it away.
- Collect 1x Troll Bogeys – You can purchase Troll Bogeys from J. Pippins Potions Shop in Hogsmeade. However, I’m not sure if this completes the tally. Intiially, I simply decided to take out Trolls in combat. If buying an item won’t work, then perhaps you do need to defeat that particular creature in battle. You can check our Troll locations guide if you need tips.
After completing the tasks, return to Professor Onai in the Divination Classroom. She’ll provide you the pattern that needs to be traced, which looks like the letter P. Successfully tracing that unlocks the Hogwarts Legacy Descendo spell. For the most part, this deals damage by slamming an opponent smack dab straight to the ground. It might be helpful when you’re facing flying opponents, too, or via a combination of Levioso and Descendo.
Lastly, we surmise that it can be used in certain puzzles (i.e., like how Accio, Depulso, Flipendo, and Wingardium Leviosa all have their own mechanics). However, we’ve yet to encounter a puzzle that requires you to bring down an object.
Hogwarts Legacy is available via Steam.
