Confringo is a spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Similar to Incendio, this lets you wield the destructive power of fire to blast your foes. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy guide to help you unlock the Confringo spell during a quest called In the Shadow of the Undercroft.

Hogwarts Legacy guide – How to unlock Confringo
The Confringo spell in Hogwarts Legacy is available a few hours into the campaign. Basically, you’ll need to complete the Jackdaw’s Rest main quest, followed by your first broom flying lesson. You’ll then receive a couple of tasks:
- Talk to Professor Weasley to unlock the Room of Requirement.
- Talk to Sebastian to obtain Confringo.
You’ll do both of these anyway as part of the main quest objectives, so don’t worry about missing out on rewards. In any case, go ahead and track In the Shadow of the Undercroft and meet Sebastian in the designated area. He’ll show you the entrance to a secret chamber.
Once inside, use Revelio to scan the place so you know where the chests are. Grab your loot (which may include some items that still need to be identified via the Desk of Description).
When prompted, chat with Sebastian and he’ll teach you the spell pattern (akin to the letter “Z” that you need to trace). Once done, you’ll unlock the Confringo spell in Hogwarts Legacy. As mentioned above, both Incendio and Confringo in Hogwarts Legacy use the fire element. The key difference is that the former is cast in a short-range frontal arc, whereas the latter is a long-range blast.
To complete the objectives in the undercroft, you’ll need to hit the four lanterns using the spell. After that, you’ll exit the area only to get accosted by a student named Ominis Gaunt. It seems he doesn’t like what Sebastian did.
Hogwarts Legacy is available via Steam.
