Next week Funcom release their Halloween game Hide and Shriek where two invisible players have to try and scare each other.

Tim and I are not huge fans of scary games, games that make you jump are not great for the old ticker. Purely for research purposes, we thought we should take a look at Hide and Shriek and see if the game would make us shriek like girls.

The game is set in Little Springs High and Innsmouth Academy and it involves two invisible players moving between classrooms which are joined by a central corridor. Players have to collect runes which are used to create spells which can be used to scare the other player. Scare them three times or collect enough of your coloured orbs and you win. It’s sounds simple but there are lots of rune combinations which create different spells.

The game is simply a piece of Halloween fun and games are reasonably short at ten minutes in length. There will also be leaderboards live when the game launched next week.

This is how it played out.

Hide and Shriek scares its way onto Steam on 25 October and there’s 20% off if you buy the  game now.
