In recent years the world of gaming has come a long way towards being accepted as medium in the same way books, TV and movies are. However, it’s fair to say that gaming still has a way to go before the stigma is relieved and gamers are no longer seen by mainstream society as nerds or geeks. It doesn’t help that the media seems hell bent on blaming all the violence in the world on video games, because of course there was no such thing as violence before Pong and Tetris came along and ruined world peace.
