I rather like the look of Hellraid, it reminds me of Hexen and Hexen 2 which are absolute classics that were brilliant in co-op mode. Today Techland informed us that the game has been pushed back to a 2014 release so that more can be added to the game.

The team are keen to add additional features and game modes for both the single player and co-op . Releasing the game this year would mean they would have to make “compromises” and they say the game currently wouldn’t meet the “expectations” of gamers. Producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz added:

“Since we started developing Hellraid we have had a clear goal to create a game that we all would love to play. We wanted to pay tribute to the best aspects of classic titles we grew up on and enhance them with new ideas, modern technology and extensive co-op that would provide players with dozens or even hundreds of hours of pure and bloody fun,”

It sounds like there are some large changes being made including a redesign of the magic system and the addition of more multiplayer game modes.

Action fantasy fans are going to have to wait a little longer but if the extra time means a more polished product then it’s the right move. Check out the blog update on this announcement here.
