Previously known as the Half-Life 2 mod Age of Chivalry, and then Kickstarted into a fully fledged game of its own, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is now available to one and all. You can grab it on Steam for $25 USD, or organise to buy it with three of your fellow knights for a slight discount.
The move to a full game has switched the engine from Source to Unreal, but the premise is largely the same: multiplayer medieval melee antics. That may sound a little bit like what War of the Roses (or, going back further, Mount & Blade: Warband) offers, but judging by the launch video (below) Chivalry plays rather different.
Let’s not dwell too long on the fact that a game called Chivalry (a term most likely derived from the word for ‘Horse’, which later became a by-word for mounted men at arms) contains no horses, and just enjoy this gory trailer.
