Halo Infinite Season 2 has only been live for a few days, but the fanbase has already leveled a heaping pile of complaints over the changes it brought. For developer 343 Industries, the second season was a shot in the arm the game desperately needed. It brought two new maps, a Last Spartan Standing mode, and a host of changes. However, some of these changes have gotten a cold reception from the community. 343’s Joseph Staten addressed these issues, saying that the launch of the season has been “bumpy,” and the team is “reviewing options.”
“Hey Spartans, this week has been bumpy,” Staten wrote on Twitter. “That definitely wasn’t our goal. We are indeed taking your feedback to heart, especially regarding map jumps and speedrunning. We’re reviewing options and will have more news to come.”
Last Spartan Standing has apparently been well received, but the rest seems to be on shaky grounds. Staten goes over “map jumps,” which likely refers to the jumping trick players used to get around maps more easily. Halo Infinite Season 2 brought changes to that, removing the collision for small ledges. Halo games have always had these little ledges and bumps in multiplayer maps that allowed people to get to higher locations or situated for better angles.
The community isn’t happy a lot of them are now gone, and have been posting their frustrations online along with footage. Some speedrunning techniques are also probably off the table.

Calling for a ride
There were also changes that didn’t make sense to the community. Halo Infinite Season 2 brought changes to the campaign. There was once a glitch that allowed you to hijack a pelican, but that was fixed this week. The “tank gun,” which folks discovered early after the game launched, has also been removed. People likened the tank gun to the secret Scarab gun in Halo 2. It won’t be removed from existing saves, but players won’t be able to grab it anymore. And again, speedrunners who relied on the “weapon” may not be pleased.
There were also issues regarding challenges. But, as you can see in the Tweet above, those have been fixed for Last Spartan Standing. I suppose that’s good.
Halo Infinite Season 2 will see the return of campaign co-op, but it still won’t be for a while. And Forge, a popular game mode where you can create you own maps and modes, isn’t going to appear until Season 3 late this year.
Honestly… why?
Jumps are hard enough to perform as is in #HaloInfinite, and learning them takes time, care, dedication, and effort.
Players invest so much to building up skills and evolving the game, this shouldn't be seen as a bad thing.
