It’s been a long road for the Master Chief Collection on PC. Ever since its announcement, 343 Industries has trickled out content, game by game. Now, the August flight test is live, bringing segments of Halo 3: ODST to players along with a host of technical improvements. If you’re a Halo Insider, you may already have an invite to play some ODST campaign levels and take part in select multiplayer sessions. The flight runs through August 24.
Halo community manager Tyler Davis posted about the flight, informing fans of 343’s plans. The current flight adds Halo 3: ODST weapons to Halo 3’s multiplayer and updates the existing Halo 3 hit registration model. There’s also some classic maps included in the Halo 3 multiplayer like Last Resort, Narrows and The Pit. Finally, you’ll be able to use Theater mode with mouse and keyboard for the first time. Here’s the full list of multiplayer sessions for the August flight:
- August 18, 20: Social 4v4, H3 Team Hardcore, and Firefight Arcade
- August 19, 21: Social 4v4, H3 Team Hardcore, and Heroic Firefight
- August 22: Social 8v8, H3 Team Hardcore, and Firefight Arcade
- August 23: Social 8v8, H3 Team Hardcore, and Heroic Firefight
Finish the Fire-fight
Anyone in the test will also be able to check out large chunks of the game’s campaign and Firefight mode. These include the levels Mombassa Streets, Tayari Plaza, Uplift Reserve, NMPD HQ, Data Hive, and Coastal Highway. The flight ends on August 24 at 1 PM ET. Afterwards, the full release of Halo 3: ODST for the Master Chief Collection is expected before the end of summer. If you’re in the Insider program, you ca check out Halo Waypoint for all the details on the Halo 3: ODST flight.
Halo 4 is the final remaining game missing from the Master Chief Collection. The 2012 Halo made by 343 is still scheduled for release this year, but an exact date has not yet been announced. Fortunately, it should still arrive on time, unlike Halo Infinite, which was recently delayed. Once the Master Chief Collection is complete, 343 will begin to work on additional features like cross-play support.
