Your journey through the underworld of Hades will sometimes let you encounter an Infernal Gate of Erebus. It’s there that you can partake in a “Perfect Clear” challenge for powerful rewards. Here’s our mini-guide to help you out.
Note: This guide is intended for Hades’ early access stage and certain mechanics may change in due course. For more information, check out our Hades guides and features hub.
Hades: Accessing an Infernal Gate of Erebus
The Infernal Gate of Erebus can appear in any of the game’s first three regions. It appears as a unique floor panel with a skull symbol (seen above). Clear the area and you’ll see the type of reward it has based on the symbol.
Note: Prior to entering the Infernal Gate, you can reroll the reward if you have a reroll dice.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to enter it yet since you’ll need to defeat Hades at least once. Doing so will let you choose Pact of Punishment modifiers on your successive runs.
The cost of entry to an Infernal Gate of Erebus will be dependent on the region it’s located as well as the Heat level from modifiers:
- Tartarus – Heat level 5
- Asphodel – Heat level 10
- Elysium – Heat level 15
As long as you meet the Heat level requirements for that particular Infernal Gate/region, you can teleport to a small room in Erebus. Inside, you’ll need to complete the “Perfect Clear” challenge.
The “Perfect Clear” challenge
The goal here is simple: Kill all the enemies (roughly a dozen that’ll spawn in groups) without taking any damage.
Needless to say, you’ll need to ensure that you’ve got the right weapons and skills to keep you mobile all while eliminating your opponents. Even a single point of damage will fail the challenge and you’ll only end up with a Red Onion (a joke item that only heals 1 HP).
Now, if you’re successful in doing the “Perfect Clear” challenge, you’ll get treated to boosted rewards. The potency of rewards is doubled (ie. a Centaur Heart gives +50 max HP and a Charon’s Obol gives +200 gold). For the Pom of Power, a boon can be increased two levels. If the reward is an Olympian god’s skill, the rarity is increased. It makes it easier to obtain special Heroic, Legendary, or Duo boons.
Hades is available via Steam’s early access program. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.
