Hades 2 is finally out in early access! While there’s a ton of content to enjoy in the game’s current state, there’s much more coming on the road to launch.
The first Hades also initially launched in early access, so that should give us an idea of how often we should expect updates for the sequel. However, Hades 2 has launched in a much more complete state than its predecessor and it’s unlikely that it’ll remain in early access for as long as the first game.
Hades 2 Update Roadmap Explained
Developer Supergiant games has shared some information about upcoming Hades 2 content already, so we know what to expect in the coming months.
The first major Hades 2 update is coming later this year. Supergiant has stated that it will take some months following the game’s initial launch, so expect to hear more about the patch sometime this summer.
Currently, the following features are being worked on. Not all of these are guaranteed to be included in the first major update, but these will be the first things added to Hades 2 during the early access period.
- New region
- Crossroads cosmetic and decoration update
- New main weapon
In addition to these major new features, new story, music, and artwork will also be added to Hades 2 as well. Supergiant Games wants to get a better feel for early access development before providing a more concrete roadmap and timeline for updates, so stay tuned for more information. You can check the current Hades 2 roadmap at any time by clicking “Coming Up Next” on the game’s main menu.
How Long Will Hades 2 Be in Early Access?
Hades 2 is planned to be in early access through at least the end of 2024. Supergiant Games will most likely provide a more concrete release window further into the early access period.
The original Hades was in early access for almost two years, initially released in December 2018 and finally hitting 1.0 in September 2020. Updates were fast and frequent with new content hitting the game roughly every two months or so. Hades 2 will probably have a slower update cadence compared to its predecessor based on the information that we have, though.
If you ask us, Hades 2 will most likely remain in early access for a year or longer, but not as long as the first game. The sequel already feels much more complete than the first game with a lot more content already implemented, so it hopefully won’t take as long for the 1.0 release to arrive.
