A lot is going on in the world of The Witcher right now. The series’s Netflix show comes out today. The spin-off Gwent: The Witcher Card Game recently received a large expansion called the Merchants of Ofir, which introduced a ton of new cards to the game. And now, Gwent is also having a festive winter holiday event, which, surprisingly, doesn’t have its own catchy name.

The Gwent holiday event (that’s fun to say) is already live in-game and offers players a chance to complete challenges to earn seasonal rewards. A holiday-themed game board has also been laid out, and players can take advantage of numerous limited-time offers in the game store. The event will run until January 9, 2020. So, make sure you get in before the end and claim your “Midwinter Wanderer” title.

Presents, presents, presents

The new winter game board gives players regular opportunities to win special presents. All you need to do is destroy possessed snowmen who randomly appear on the festive battlefield. Each present gives players a chance to unlock card backs, resources, borders, avatars, or an ultra-rare item. So, start smashing snowmen.

There’s also a holiday showdown taking place until January 2, 2020. This Yule Challenge requires players to choose a side between Santa Crach and the Wraith of Yule. You will then need to complete challenges and quests to earn reward points, as well as contribute towards your side’s total point tally. The winning side will unlock XP bonuses, which will be doled out after the challenge is complete.

The final part of the Gwent winter holiday event is the in-game store specials. Players will be able to pick up packs containing Ultimate Premium Kegs, Mirror Shards, and winter-themed ornaments. Titles, borders, avatars, and a special Christmas leader skin for Crach an Craite are all stashed away in the packs. During the event, there will also be a winter sale every weekend until January 6, 2020. The sale will offer select expansion-themed items for 30% off.
