Yesterday Kojima revealed via his Twitter account that Ground Zeroes almost had an 80’s filter but it had to be removed due to technical difficulties. Kojima was inspired by the film RUSH which used a 70’s filter and wanted to implement an 80’s filter into Ground Zeroes which takes place during the 1980’s.

Ground Zeroes will be a short prologue to the much longer The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes is due for release on March 18th in North America and March 20th for Europe and Japan. Kojima has warned players that The Phantom Pain won’t be coming out soon after Ground Zeroes as there is still much work to be done on it.
