Former staff members from GRIN have created Outbreak Studios.
The new development studio was founded by lead programmer Peter Björklund and is located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Outbreak Studios say on the company’s website it is “dedicated to delivering games that uses new and exciting ways to play online.”
The company “believes in having a small number of core employees that are extremely dedicated, focused and deliver high quality. Most of our associates have worked in the game industry for more than ten years. All of them have worked together for several years.”
Outbreak will develop titles to be releaseed on Xbox LIVE!, PlayStation Store, Games for Windows Live, PSP Go and iPhone as well as deliver online components for AAA titles, “both existing or upcoming”.
The majority of Outbreak’s development team of 25 has been credited on GRIN’s Terminator Salvation, and a number of them on the developer’s Bionic Commando and Wanted: Weapons Of Fate. Björklund built the network engine for EA/DICE that is used in games like Midtown Madness 3, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and Battlefield: Bad Company.There have been rumours about GRIN closing its doors for a while, and the company officially closed yesterday.
