The Shapely Fidus boss fight and the Self-Pull (grapple) ability
Shapely Fidus, a boss with a hand for its head and a woman’s body, will chide you before causing flames to erupt. Make sure you’re ready for this battle because the boss has several attacks that can’t be parried or reflected.
Here are some of Shapely Fidus’ notable attacks:
- Seedling Bombs – Throws a couple of seeds that will explode when touched.
- Flame Slash – Strikes in front with the sword, causing flames to erupt. The sword can be pulled back which also causes flames to appear.
- Fire Aura – Does a scream that emanates a wave of heat (you can dash through it).
Additional abilities come into play once Shapely Fidus reaches 60% health:
- Triple Slam – Bashes the ground three times. The next swing will spawn a burning circle that will explode.
- Molten Core – Floats in the air and spews several burning orbs that need to be avoided.
Finally, the most hilarious part occurs once you’ve fully depleted Shapely Fidus’ HP. The boss’ body will be destroyed and its hand will crawl towards you.
It’ll then leap around to deal damage. All you need to do is avoid it for roughly 20 seconds (denoted by its HP bar). It’ll then run out of gas (haha) and die.
Defeating Shapely Fidus rewards you with the Self-Pull ability. You may now use the pull action while targetting shadow orbs, allowing you to grapple in that direction. You can go ahead and use the ability on the nearby shadow orbs, picking up loot along the way. You might even find another Motley Pearl.
Now that you have this ability, we can talk about a few secrets, as well as the Artisan of Flesh miniboss. Let’s go to the next part of our Grime Carven Palace guide.
