For the first time in a long time, you can put some money down at a storefront for Grim Fandango.

Pre-orders for Grim Fandango Remastered have just opened on GOG.com, meaning you can pre-order one of the bestest adventures ever for $14.99 USD. Grim Fandango Remastered improves on the original with higher-res character textures, new lighting, a re-recorded score, two hours of developer commentary, and a concept art browser… and it also gives you the option to use an alternate control scheme. Although Tim Schafer may dislike you if you use it, because if the video below is any indication, Double Fine think the original “tank” controls are the best.

Unless the new control scheme is terrible, they are wrong. So wrong.

I’d assume that pre-orders will be opening on other digital stores before too long, but for now it’s just GOG, where purchasing will net you an HD wallpaper and a total lack of DRM.

Grim Fandango Remastered is due out on 27 January, for $14.99. You can watch Tim Schafer talk about how lovely GOG is and how great Grim Fandango Remastered is in the video below.
