Just three years after its release, the PS3 and PC multiplayer support for Race Driver: Grid has ceased.
“Race Driver: Grid’s online play service has been discontinued for the PS3 and PC editions of the game,” Codemasters have confirmed. “This follows the decision by a third party provider to decline the offer of an extended contract to continue online play on these platforms.”
The third party aspect explains why Xbox 360 multiplayer support for the game is unaffected.
Grid players aren’t exactly impressed by this and have taken to the Codemasters community forums to express their displeasure. “Stupid move on Codies part. Killing the servers for a game that is still played online by such a large community is not looking good for them,” ‘IamNobody2’ suggests. “BOICOTT [sic] in mass”, ‘United-Kickdom’ urges, perhaps a tad optimistically.
