He’s got this.

In the new trailer we get to see a look at combat with the young hero, as well as a little backstory narrated by Dick Grayson himself. We also get a look at some clothing customization options, which seem to have some solid variety. It was also revealed that we’ll receive further character-specific trailers in the same vein as this in the lead-up to the game’s release.

A Gotham without Batman

Gotham Knights is a new open-world, action RPG set in a Gotham where Batman has died under mysterious circumstances. In the wake of his death, it’s up to his young students to take up his mantle and defend the city from the threat of criminals and the Court of Owls. That includes Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin.

Today’s trailer feels like the start of a series of videos for the game. We’re getting to the point where marketing is bound to ramp up. With Nightwing shown off, we should expect to see the other three in the Bat family get similar treatment. Each character seems to have their own style and quirks. Nightwing is clearly still the acrobat, which fits his history. Red Hood will no doubt show off his arsenal, while Robin should have a style on his own. Batgirl may be a blend of some characteristics, as she too is both acrobatic and an experienced combatant.

Luckily, you won’t have to worry about figuring out which character to bring on missions. The game can be played alone or in cooperative multiplayer with a friend, and you get your pick among the four characters.

Gotham Knights is scheduled to release on PC on October 25.
