Going global: Valve reveals new Counter-Strike

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

Casual as you like, Valve has announced a new edition of Counter-Strike with the suffix Global Offensive.
May as well get ready for terrorists to win all over again, as CS:GO is promising to “expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago”.
But how will it do this, you ask? Well, with new maps (as well as rejigged classics like de_dust), new characters, new weapons and possibly new hats (Valve doesn’t actually mention hats, I’m just extrapolating).
More online gubbins like leaderboards, improved matchmaking and brand new game modes will also feature.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is being developed by Valve in conjunction with Seattle’s Hidden Path Entertainment and is scheduled to appear on PC, Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network in early 2012.
