God of War: Ascension has finally been announced, after showing up on websites and job listings for the past year, Sony added a new image to the official Playstation Facebook page, and the reveal trailer to the official Playstation Youtube page.
Sony have also released a few details about the game. The story will follow Kratos again, except this time it will be a prequel, allowing us to learn more about Kratos’ origins.
Sony have said “The most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far, God of War: Ascension takes us right back to where it all began.”
“Discover the origins of Kratos as he takes his first steps on a now legendary quest for freedom.”
Although the details currently are a bit slim, Sony have stated that they will be holding a live stream on April 30th, so the fans can get “A glimpse of what’s in store.” So we won’t have to wait too long to get more info on the game.
Earlier in the month a trailer was leaked, and in the closing four days until the announcement they added a teaser image to the official Playstation Facebook page. Also, yesterday a banner was spotted on Gamespot that stated “Nothing will bring them back” followed by the date 04.19.12, so the announcement has certainly not been discreet.
The game was previously rumored to be called God of War: From the Ashes or God of War IV. However the original teaser image had actually hinted that the game would actually be named something people weren’t expecting, as the image URL contained the letter “gowa” near the end. God of War: Ascension will release for Playstation 3 sometime in 2013, but no release date has been set. Be sure to check back on April 30th for all the new details on God of War: Ascension.
