This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Heini Schmitt, head of the Hessen German Police Union, wants violent video games banned.Heini Schmitt, speaking out after the school shooting in Germany earlier this month, believes that violent video games have had an impact on the massacres, according to Echo Online (thanks GamePolitics.)”It is known that in all massacre cases, the perpetrators had a strong addiction to so-called killer games,” said Schmitt, adding “The killings sometimes resemble the virtual examples in striking ways.”Schmitt worries that the age restrictions for games are frequently not observed. He admits that there is no proof “that the frequent escapes into virtual worlds help cause these crazy acts,” but adds that “we cannot completely dismiss their role.””The world would be no poorer if killer games no longer existed,” he finished.
