Genshin Impact: The basics of the Windtrace event
Part of me thought that the Windtrace event in Genshin Impact was somehow related to Dungeons & Dragons since the NPC who lets you start a match is named Gygax. Sadly, it’s not D&D. It’s actually H&S or C&R.
“H&S” refers to hide and seek. “C&R,” meanwhile, refers to cops and robbers. Basically, the Windtrace event is a combination of tag and hide and seek.
Once matchmaking is done, your group will spawn in one of five locations (i.e., the ones I mentioned before such as Dawn Winery or Springvale). This is why you need to have access to the nearby Statues of the Seven. I’m guessing that if you haven’t interacted with some of these, you won’t get that particular map since it’s technically not unlocked yet.
Four players will have a go at it during each match. Three players will form the Rebel team and one will be designated as the Hunter. Okay, so, it’s like Evolve or Dead by Daylight.
At the start of the match, there will be a period where the Rebel team can run around to find some decent hiding spots. Rebel players can also use disguises, such as turning into a box or a barrel.
Once that period has elapsed, the Hunter will have roughly four minutes to find all three Rebels. The Hunter will be able to ping the surrounding location (a short-distance AoE burst). Doing so will reveal nearby Rebels even if they’re disguised.
The Rebel team’s objective is to remain hidden until the timer expires. Even if one Rebel is left at the end of the match, that person will still get the win for the team. Sadly, Rebels who get prematurely discovered will become spectators who’ll need to wait until the match is over. Conversely, the Hunter’s job is to find all the Rebels within the time limit. Doing so leads to a solo victory.
Note: There’s also a giant Anemo orb that spawns somewhere on the map after some time has passed. This is known as a “Favor,” and an active player who picks it up will gain a huge boost to their Windward Art burst.
You might be asking about the rewards that are up for grabs. Well, let’s go to the next section of our Genshin Impact Windtrace event guide to learn about the Windtrace Coins, scoring system, and rewards.
