Genshin Impact Varuna Gatha guide – Arapandu and the Varuna Contraption

To get started with the Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact, open the Aranyaka book in your quest items menu. Click on the “Go” button, and it should pop up as an objective (if you’ve already done other sidequests).

Next, head to the marked location in the valley between Yasna Monument and Apam Woods. There, you’ll see an Aranara named Arapandu surrounded by mobs. Help him out and Arapandu will tell you to go to a vantage point.

The vantage point itself is high up in the trees. You can either climb it and use the grapple, or glide from a nearby fast travel point.

Once there, a massive structure in the middle of the forest will blast a beam of energy into the air. This is the Varuna Contraption in Genshin Impact, and it’s a place we’ll visit much later. For now, though, you can grapple through the air to reach the other trees so you can defeat the mobs there.

Note: The Tower of Abject pride, a Sumeru domain, is nearby. It’s where you can acquire new weapon ascension materials.

After trouncing the mobs, return to Arapandu. Another spot will be marked on your map (it’s a hollow behind a large tree). Inside, you’ll find what the Aranara call “stone branches” and “stone leaves.”

This is a recurring puzzle in this quest chain. Basically, you just need to rotate the small stones so they face the pillar in the center.

When you’re done, you’ll meet Arapandu in the “rest stop,” a clearing in front of the Varuna Contraption. He also tells you that he’s got other friends that need your aid.

You’ll now have to do the following quests: Memory of Stone, Irate Iron Chunk, and Slumbering Roots.
