Genshin Impact: Varuna Contraption and Coordinates of Sun and Rain

And now in today's weather forecast...

If you’re already done with Memory of Stone, Irate Iron Chunk, and Slumbering Roots, then it’s time to finish the Varuna Gatha quest in Genshin Impact. The next objective, A Prayer for Rain on Fecund Land, entails chasing down a mushroom enemy until you reach a device. Here’s our Genshin Impact guide to help you with the Varuna Contraption and how to unlock the Coordinates of Sun and Rain domain.

Genshin Impact guide – The Varuna Contraption and the Coordinates of Sun and Rain (Varuna Gatha quest chain)

Assuming you’ve finished all prerequisite quests, then it’s time to head inside the Varuna Contraption in Genshin Impact. Talk to Arapandu and the gang at the rest stop, and tell them you’re ready. As you approach the large structure, a seelie will also appear to guide you. When you step on the marker, a short cutscene will play, and a pit will open up.

This large underground area is home to the Disturbed Fungus, just a bigger mushroom mob with a unique name. Damage it enough and it’ll run away.

You’ll then need to chase it around the tunnels (you won’t be able to kill it yet). Each time it stops, a few mobs will spawn, so just take them out. Likewise, you should be able to tag a fast travel point that normally doesn’t show up on the map.

In the last chamber, you’ll be able to unlock the Coordinates of Sun and Rain domain in Genshin Impact. You’ll see it behind a barrier next to a Dendro totem. Use a Dendro character to activate a totem, which will make a floating ornament appear.

On the opposite side of the cavern, you’ll find a small tree. If you already have the Vintage Lyre tune that creates Healthy Dendrograma, you can play that and use a charged shot to blast the ornaments that pop up. Once that’s done, the barrier’s seal will break, and you’ll be able to access the domain.

Anyway, the Disturbed Fungus is chilling in the middle of the chamber. You should now be able to eliminate it.

This will complete the Varuna Gatha quest chain in Genshin Impact, and you’ll also gain access to the Varuna Contraption with its own tune.

Here are some tidbits:

  • The Rhythm of the Source Water tune gives you control of the weather in Apam Woods. You can make it sunny or rainy, and that can affect the water level in the area.
  • One of your new pals, Aranakula, will start cultivating some unique plants in his garden in Vanarana. This is a separate sidequest called Sprouting Seedlings.

Note: There’s still a lot left to do if you want to complete the Aranyaka quest chain in Genshin Impact. You’ll have to help some siblings with their cooking, master the power of the Kusava gadget, and investigate a gargantuan Ruin Golem. All those tasks are required if you want to finish your Adventure with Aranara so you can organize the Festival Utsava.
