Genshin Impact Akitsu Kimodameshi event guide – How to get the Toukabou Shigure and is it any good
Akitsu Kimodameshi reward
To get the Toukabou Shigure during Genshin Impact‘s Akitsu Kimodameshi event, you’ll need to partake in the Leisurely Pastime activity, which gets unlocked after completing the introductory quest. This entails a minigame akin to Breakout or Arkanoid, which fellow oldies might remember from the good ol’ days of arcades. Basically, balls will be moving from one end of the arena to the other, breaking the blocks that are hit. As the player, you’ll need to go from side to side with your bar to make the balls bounce back. The faster you break those blocks and the more balls are ricocheting back and forth without being lost, the higher your score.
Naturally, there’s a Genshin twist to it based on elements. If a ball hits a block with a certain element, it will create a reaction. Similarly, you can do just that by swapping to certain characters (i.e., Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, or Electro) to reapply a different element. Examples include dealing AoE damage to nearby blocks or having your projectiles pass through and hit others.
In any case, completing the first challenge, Crunchy Sakura Mochi, allows you to get the Toukabou Shigure in Genshin Impact. Simply check the relevant page in the event panel to claim it.
Note: Apart from Leisurely Pastime challenges, there are also Shatterdark battles. Think of these as boss fights where the balls need to hit a target to continue damaging it. Getting high scores in both types of activities rewards you with a currency called Courage Test Ticket. This can be used in the event shop to purchase Parasol Talcum, the weapon’s refinement material.
Is Toukabou Shigure any good?
Now, there are a couple of questions that remain: is the Toukabou Shigure weapon in Genshin Impact actually good? Which characters benefit the most from it? Well, first, we have to look at its stats and perks:
- Sub-stat: Elemental Mastery (EM); around 165 EM at level 90.
- Perk: Kaidan Rainfall Earthbinder – Inflicts the Cursed Parasol debuff on a single enemy that you hit; lasts for 10 seconds. The wielder does 16% more damage to the afflicted foe. If it dies within 10 seconds, then the duration is refreshed automatically.
Due to the sub-stat, you’ll want this for characters that have some form of Elemental Mastery scaling. Examples include Kazuha, Nilou, and Kuki Shinobu. In Kazuha’s case, EM is always a given due to Swirl reactions. Meanwhile, one of Kuki’s passives boosts her skill’s healing and damage based on her EM. And, as for Nilou, the damage of subsequent Bloom-related reactions will be based on her EM stat if she’s the one to trigger them.
However, do take note that the weapon’s perk only affects one target at a time. Likewise, it implies that the character has to be on the field to maximize the damage dealt so the opponent can be killed. This way, the buff can be refreshed and reapplied to another foe. As such, another free-to-play weapon like Iron Sting might be more viable for AoE situations given that it also has EM as a sub-stat, and it increases all elemental damage done, too.
Note: The Toukabou Shigure in Genshin Impact can be obtained throughout the duration of the Akitsu Kimodameshi event, which runs from December 15, 2022 to January 2, 2023.
