Genshin Impact – Raiden Shogun Transient Dreams story quest guide
There are a couple of requirements to unlock the Raiden Shogun’s Transient Dreams story quest in Genshin Impact. First, you’ll have to finish Act 3 of Inazuma’s Archon quest arc. Next, you’ll need to complete Reflections of Mortality. If you’re done with these, just spend a couple of story keys to unlock the next step.
Our goal here is fairly straightforward, since we’ll just need to talk to Katheryn from the Inazuma Adventurer’s Guild before heading to the hills near Grand Narukami Shrine. There, you’ll fight several Rifthounds before the Raiden Shogun steps in to help. In the next parts, you’ll simply need to go to the marked locations, following the glowing icons next to scratch marks made by creatures.
You’ll also control Ei as she fights Rifthounds solo. Likewise, you’ll meet up with the spirits of the dead who perished during a cataclysm that happened centuries ago.
This will, eventually, culminate in another bout against Rifthounds. During this battle, Ei will sometimes get stuck, and she admits that she has to put an end to unfinished business.
Story-wise, the Ei who’s with you is the twin of Makoto, the original Raiden Shogun who died in the realm of Khaenri’ah. Around this time, Inazuma was also getting ravaged by monsters. Ei recounts how the Sacred Sakura Tree appeared suddenly, and yet it felt as though everyone had known that it had always existed (weird).
Ei then assumed her twin’s identity to continue ruling Inazuma in her stead. However, she also created a body double/golem/construct known as the Puppet (this is also the playable character in your roster). All three are, technically, Raiden Shoguns in their own right. However, it’s the Puppet that’s causing Ei to get stuck, thinking that she’s somehow going against her original directives.
Ei tells you to head to a cave beneath Grand Narukami Shrine. This isn’t the pit where we fought the Miasmic Tumor. Rather, it’s the one along the northern cliffs of the shrine. There’s an Electroculi plant on a floating rock that you can grab to pass through the barrier.
Once you’re in the cave, Ei will create a portal to the Plane of Euthymia. There, you’ll meet the Raiden Shogun once more, and the two — creator and clone — will duke it out. This phase is fairly easy, as you can dodge the Puppet’s attacks and continue hitting hard with your trial version of Ei.
When that’s done, Ei says that she has to continue fighting for all eternity, kicking you out of the dimension. Head to Grand Narukami Shrine and talk to Yae Miko, who’ll then create a new portal. After the short cinematic, you’ll control Ei once more. The difference is that the Puppet will transform into a multi-limbed golem.
It has several deadly attacks, including the Final Calamity. When prompted, make sure to destroy the flower-like object in the center using Electro damage. This will create a barrier that will protect you from the insta-kill attack.
After defeating the Puppet, it’ll admit defeat and agree to become Ei’s shadow. Next, you’ll get to watch another cool cinematic. It shows Makoto, Ei’s long-lost twin, speaking through a fragment of her soul. Ei is given a seed, which she plants in the Plane of Euthymia. This blossoms into the Sacred Sakura Tree in the past, the same mystic tree that allowed her to protect the region during the cataclysm. Basically, Genshin Impact just went the time travel/time loop route.
In any case, this will complete the Raiden Shogun’s Transient Dreams story quest in Genshin Impact. Your reward is a quest item called the Dream Sakura. We don’t have any use for it now, but you can be certain that Ei’s journey and character development are far from over. Lastly, you’ll unlock the End of Oneiric Euthymia. This is a domain where you get to fight the Puppet as a weekly boss. Your opponent will drop talent materials for new characters such as Yae Miko.
