miHoYo formally announced some new playable characters for Genshin Impact through their Twitter, including the long-awaited Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun. We got some more information on what playable characters to expect going forward, so plan to start saving your Primogems now if you have a character you’re looking forward to.
The folks at miHoYo revealed three characters in particular. The Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun, is at the top of the list. She plays an important role in the story as she rules over Inazuma and carries out the Vision Hunt. We’re also getting Sangonomiya Kokomi, the Divine Priestess over Watatsumi Island who has an influential role in the Resistance. Finally, Kujou Sara, General of the Tenryou Commission, is coming to the game as well. All three of these characters play a big role in Inazuma’s story arc, so it’s not surprising that these three are coming so soon.
When will these characters arrive?
Unfortunately, miHoYo hasn’t officially announced the release dates of these characters. We don’t know what banners these characters will appear on, nor what version. However, it’s safe to assume these three will arrive in the next patch, 2.1. miHoYo announced the three previous characters in a similar fashion in order to prepare for 2.0. Additionally, some prolific leakers in the community are predicting these characters’ arrival in 2.1, including Sukuna (who previously leaked playable characters and events accurately).
The rarity of these characters also have not been confirmed. It’s safe to assume Raiden Shogun will be another five-star in Genshin Impact, as she’s an archon following characters like Venti and Zhongli. There are rumors that Kokomi will also be a five-star, while Sara will be a four-star. But these should be taken with a grain of salt.
If these characters do come in 2.1, then we’ll have plenty of new characters to mess around with when the update drops. We know Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn is coming as a playable character, which you can get early by connecting your PC account with your PSN account. Otherwise, all we can do is wait for miHoYo to drop some more info.
