Snow-Covered Path
There’s a shard here that needs to be destroyed to remove the air current that’s blocking the way to the summit.
Think of this area as a way of learning the basics for the other shards. Firstly, look at the blood-red mineral nodes. These are the same ones that drop Scarlet Quartz, providing you a warming buff that lets you destroy Ancient Rime. Well, you’re going to be using the warming buff to destroy the shard as well.
If you have the Scarlet Quartz warming buff, you can hit the shard itself to deplete 25% of its health. Once you’ve damaged the shard, the warming buff will disappear.
That means you’ll need to interact with the four mineral nodes in the area to get the necessary buffs.
After the shard has been destroyed, interact with the orb. Surprise! It’s the Frostbearing Tree. Think of it as Dragonspine’s Statue of the Seven-esque mechanic. You’ll need to find Crimson Agates (like this region’s version of Anemoculus and Geoculus) to empower it.
In any case, let’s not get distracted. For now, let’s focus on the second location, the Entombed City Outskirts. However, if you really want to learn a bit more about this feature, you can check our Frostbearing Tree/Crimson Agate guide.
